The Santorini archipelago is located in the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea.
It consists of five volcanic islands including:
- Santorini (or Théra, Thíra), the largest and best known,
- Thirassía, the tip of which looks like a crocodile head from afar
- the island of Néa Kaméni, which constitutes the active part of the volcano,
- Paléa Kaméni – which means “old burned” -,
- Aspronissi – which means “white island”, smaller and difficult to access.

How is the visit?
Volcano Day
If you opt for a tour, it is usually done in three stages.
You walk through the volcanic site for 1 hour or 1 hour 30 minutes. You will discover the craters and the history of the volcano.
Then, a stopover in warm waters awaits you!
The last stop will be on the neighboring and peaceful island, about 1 hour, for a meal, a drink or a small bath.
Return by Oia for those who opt for the sunset option in Oia. Then Direction Fira for the others.

You are heading to the Palea Kameni site where the Hots Springs are located. The boat stops nearby: you can soon swim in the famous Palaia Kameni thermal baths … Here, the water temperature varies between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius. The water is a little reddish and also smells of sulfur, but the experience is great. Little advice, by the way: choose a rather dark swimsuit that day …
